Binh Dinh province People’s Committee has granted the investment license to Quy Nhon Cable Television Center (QCaTV) with the total investment capital of US$1.2 million. To know more about the project and changes of QCaTV in the coming time, Binh Dinh newspaper reporter interviewed the director of QCaTV, Chu Quang Trung.

*Q: Could you brief about the project?

*A: The project is only a new move in the cooperation between QCaTV and Yun Bong Advertising, Records, A & V Co., Ltd (Hong Kong). According to the first agreement in 2003 QCaTV and Yun Bong Company cooperated in the purchase of equipments and technology transfer, but with the new project, QCaTV has the right to purchase equipments from any where.

Under the agreement, QCaTV will be fully responsible for contents of programmes broadcasted and Yun Bong Company will be in charge of technology. Two sides will share 50% of the capital for the 12 year-project.

*Q: Could you explain about the combination among cable television, internet and telephone on the cable TV network?

*A: QCaTV and Binh Dinh Electricity Department have agreed on the issue. At first, we will conduct the combination between cable TV and the internet, and the link between cable TV and telephone will be conducted later because this is a complex progress.

Basing on the available cable network, some equipments will be installed to serve for the use of the internet through the cable network. To use the internet, subscribers can use the second line of the cable to connect with their computer through a modem. Surely, the access speed will be faster. But I can’t say anything about the price until the project is conducted. This service is proposed to be operated in the third quarter this year.

*Q: Currently, what can the subscribers benefit from QCaTV?

*A: QCaTV is providing nearly 30 domestic and international channels. In the coming time, there will be one more channel,  the cinemax channel with Vietnamese subtitle. In late 2007, the cable network will be expanded to Tuy Phuoc and An Nhon districts.

*Q: There have been many complaints from subscribers about the quality of channels in the past time. When the project is conducted, will the quality of channel be improved?

*A: There are many reasons, such as the breakdown of some cables or the change of weather. We have always tried our best to overcome such problems. For example, we connected the cable from Binh Dinh TV Station (BTV), so the quality of the BTV channel has become better. At the QCaTV center, two technicians from Yun Bong Company are always ready for technical problems.

Because the aim of the project is to modernize the cable network multifunctionally, the quality of channels will be better in the coming time when it is conducted. Apart from this, we also plan to broadcast some more channels.
