The Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism held a workshop on investment promotion in Central provinces in fields of culture, sports, and tourism. It showed that Binh Dinh and other central provinces need to have a connection with each other to develop these fields.
Tourism projects still have shortcomings
Central region has the potential for attracting projects on culture, sports, and tourism. There have been 159 projects invested in the Central region with the capital of US$8.9 billion by late October this year, according to the statistics released by the Foreign Investment Agency.
The Minister of Culture, Sports, and Tourism Hoang Tuan Anh, however, said that Central provinces have made every effort to attract the investment in fields of culture, sports, and tourism, but it still focused on the tourism property without any close cooperation.
“So far, most Central provinces have built tourism services, mainly using raw resources," said deputy head of Foreign Investment Agency Nguyen Thi Bich Van.” They haven’t taken full advantage of distinctive features; thus, tourism services couldn’t be attractive.”
Participants also introduced many projects at the workshop, aiming at appealing to the investment. They, therefore, need a connection to avoid the similarity of services and support each other for the mutual benefit
Cultural tourism in Binh Dinh
At the workshop, Binh Dinh introduced 11 of 18 projects on culture, sports, and tourism. Most targeted at sea tourism, eco-tourism and resort. Other provinces have been focusing on these fields. Preliminary statistics showed that there are now over 200 resort project under construction from central province of Quang Binh to Binh Thuan. Binh Dinh, therefore, needs to carefully consider its projects to become more attractive.
Annually, Central provinces of Thua Thien-Hue, Da Nang, Quang Nam, Nha Trang, and Binh Thuan receive many domestic and foreign tourists, a surge of 17% and 28% respectively. The number of tourists coming to Binh Dinh also increased but slow.
There are many reasons for the slow development of tourism in Binh Dinh. One of the important reasons is that Binh Dinh hasn’t taken full advantage of its potential. Geographically, Binh Dinh tourism can’t be compared with other Central provinces. However, it still has distinctive features such as Cham towers, martial arts, and traditional art. These can be considered as treasure for tourism.
Among 11 listed projects, there were some worth investment, such as the preservation and restoration of Cham towers, Banh It tower historical and cultural park, restoration and development of craft villages.
