The opening ceremony of BinhDinh Phu Dong Sport Games 2008 will start tonight (March 6). With good preparations, it promises to be a really exciting event.
The five-day meet draws the participation of 1,901 student-athletes coming from primary schools, junior and senior high schools in Binh Dinh. They will compete in 7 different sports and games, including football, volleyball, track-and-field, badminton, chess, table-tennis, and archery.
Phu Dong Sport Festival is the cultural and sports activity of the education sector, helping to enrich the younger generation's cultural and spiritual life and eradicate social evils at schools.
This is also an opportunity to select students who have talents for sports to participate in the 7th National Sport Festival which plans to be held in August in Phu Tho Province.
In the first stage of this year's Phu Dong Sport Festival, the qualifying rounds were also held for football and volleyball in Districts of Hoai Nhon and Phu Cat.
Some teams proved their improvement in football and volleyball. The competitions at this year's Phu Dong Sport Festival, therefore, would be interesting, Huynh Quang Dau, who is in charge of physical education at Binh Dinh Department of Education and Training said after watching the qualifying rounds of football and volleyball.
