Many cultural activities held in the past few days created a jubilant atmosphere on the occasion of the Liberation of the South and national reunification (April 30) and the May Day (May1).

1. Sai Gon-Quy Nhon Tousim JSC held some events in Ghenh Rang tourism site. The art and photography exhibition at Queen restaurant attracted many visitors. All photos displayed have the large sizes and some of which proved the authors’ creation.

This was also the first time Binh Dinh traditional craft villages were introduced with 15 stalls showing products like Bau Da wine, and brocade. “We introduced craft villages with the aim at making Binh Dinh traditional craft villages become well known,” said Director of Sai Gon-Quy Nhon Tourism JSC, Nguyen Van Minh.

The most impressive one was the stall displaying works made by handicapped children and brocade products. Visitors were really interested in the making of stone statues and picture drawing.

The craft village festival would last until May 15 and we would try to maintain the event in the future by inviting more craft villages, Minh added.

Also, there was a music and fashion performance. Artists from Dao Tan Tuong (Vietnamese classical drama) Theatre and Elite Beauty Company would perform in the show.

2. The most jubilant event is the first Sports-Culture Festival held in Hoai Nhon District from April 29 to May 1. In the food and drink contest, visitors were surprised by traditional dishes with unique taste.

But before that, participants also happily joined the ba trao chanty and folk-song competition. Other traditional games made the atmosphere become more interesting.

This year’s festival was unexpectedly successful. All participants had well prepared for the competitions, said Le Van Tinh, Director of Hoai Nhon Sports-Culture Center.

3. With a small scale, the book festival with the theme “Connect friends” taking place at Binh Dinh Library attracted a great concern of readers. This was also the first time a festival held to respond to the World Book and Copyright Day celebrated in Binh Dinh.

There were many activities, such as the book forum and drawing contest for children, held at the festival.

Dr. Vo Lien, poet Le Thu, and writer Nguyen My Nu talked about the importance of book reading. Perhaps, the reading culture was the most interesting topic attracting the participation of many readers.

Poet Le Thu said that we should read all books because each has its own interesting aspects. “Try to arrange your time to read a book every day because reading books improve our knowledge and imagination,” said Vice Director of provincial Library, Hoang Thi Bich Thuy.

Also, 40 students coming from three primary schools in Quy Nhon took part in the drawing and statue modelling contest. Characters in stories were re-drawn. Many beautiful statues and pictures were rewarded.
