Holding the night of poems and music, organisers aim to introduce two famous poets, Xuan Dieu who was born in Binh Dinh and Han Mac Tu whose poems were composed in the land of martial arts.
Four poets in Binh Dinh including Che Lan Vien, Han Mac Tu, Quach Tan, and Yen Lan greatly contributed their works to Vietnamese literature. However, only Han Mac Tu and Xuan Dieu will be named on the occasion of the first festival held in Binh Dinh.
“Poet Xuan Dieu is known as the king of Tho moi, or new poetry (Vietnamese poetry movement). He was born in Go Boi, Tuy Phuoc District. Poet Han Mac Tu had many well-known poems composed in Binh Dinh,” said poet Nguyen Thanh Mung.
Ghenh Rang, where Han Mac Tu’s tomb locates, facing the East Sea, will be used as the last resting place for Binh Dinh’s poets after they pass away. It is, therefore, called Thi Nhan (poet) hill.
The night of poems and music is scheduled to be held on August 2 on the hill. Some well-known poems of two poets will be recited by artists coming from Ha Noi and Quy Nhon. Other poems set to music will also be sung by singer Quang Dung.
Other poets, including Nguyen Khoa Diem, Tran Dang Khoa, Thanh Thao, Ngo The Oanh, Tran Thi Huyen Trang, and literary critic Chu Van Son will attend the event and give their own opinions about Xuan Dieu and Han Mac Tu.
The night of poems and music on Thi Nhan hill is expected to become a highlight of Tay Son – Binh Dinh Festival 2008.
