Tay Son – Binh Dinh Festival 2008 will be not only the integration of Binh Dinh’s unique cultural features but a rendezvous for domestic and foreign art troupes. Coming to the festival, visitors will have a chance to enjoy various cultural features.
Tay Son – Binh Dinh Festival will be held in Binh Dinh for the first time with the participation of four domestic and two foreign art troupes. Each is expected to bring its distinctive cultural features to the festival.
Hue Royal Traditional Arts Theatre including 45 artists and instrumentalists would perform 8 shows with two main types (royal music and royal dance), said director of Hue Royal Traditional Arts Theatre Truong Tuan Hai.
Dam San Arts Troupe (Gia Lai province) will have 7 performances, consisting of songs, with Tay Nguyen (Central Highlands) features, composed by Nguyen Cuong and Tran Tien and Bahnar dances.
Southern folk songs and solo performances of bamboo flute and Dan bau (Vietnamese monochord) performed by Bong Sen (lotus) Music and Dance Theatre coming from Ho Chi Minh City will feature key characters of Southern people.
Tien Giang Music and Dance Theatre will bring 13 shows, including Don ca tai tu (Southern amateur music) to the festival. The theme is about the land and people of Tien Giang province, showing the cultural exchange in the festival.
Chongdong Theatre (RoK) and Laos National Art Troupe (Laos) are two international art troupes will perform in Tay Son – Binh Dinh Festival 2008. Chongdong Theatre including 25 artists and instrumentalists will join with 5 shows. Eight traditional musical instruments will be used in the performance. 20 artists of Laos National Art Troupe will come with 10 performances showing Laos’ unique cultural features.
Laos National Art Troupe has well prepared for its performances which are Laos’ unique features. Also, we will also perform a dance themed “Vietnam – Laos, ardent love and great loyalty”. This aims to praise the solidarity and friendship between two countries, said Deputy Head of Laos Performing Art Division, Duangmixay Likaya.
All art troupes are ready for their performances in upcoming festival. They all plan to come to Binh Dinh on July 29 and begin to perform from July 30 to August 3.
Venues for their performance include Quy Nhon (the opening and closing ceremonies), Quang Trung Museum in Tay Son District, Thi Nai lagoon (night festival of flower garlands and colored lanterns), and Ghenh Rang (night of poems and music).
Their destinations in the festival will also consist of Victory square, Binh Dinh Culture and Information Center, Thap Doi Culture Park, and others.
Binh Dinh’s 11 art troupes are scheduled to perform Tuong (Vietnamese classical drama) and Bai choi in Districts of Phu Cat, Phu My, Hoai Nhon, Hoai An, An Lao, Van Canh, and Vinh Thanh.
