Although Tay Son – Binh Dinh was held for the first time, it left a good impression on tourists. Below are some their thoughts on the festival.
* Prof. Dr. Phan Thu Hien (Ho Chi Minh National University):
Binh Dinh has many distinctive cultural values. This is an advantage for following festivals. If Binh Dinh could take full advantage of its unique features, all festivals will be attractive regardless of being held many times.
This year’s Tay Son – Binh Dinh Festival included many festivities leaving a good impression on tourists, such as Tuong (Vietnamese classical drama) festival, international festival of Vietnamese traditional martial arts, or Miss Martial Lands pageant.
The Miss Martial Lands pageant wasn’t really impressive as expected due to the lack of time. Contestants were still weak in performing martial arts and answering questions. If the contest is frequently held, I believe that many beauties, both nationwide and worldwide, will participate in the contest.

* Painter Nhat Chi Lan (Binh Thuan province):
Tay Son – Binh Dinh Festival was held for the first time, but it was really attractive with many interesting programs. The bonsai festival attracted many provinces and cities. I’ve ever seen many valuable ornamental plants displayed in the festival.
However, the organisation still made some mistakes. I hope that the Organisation Board will learn experiences for following festivals.
* Ivonne Bom and Luciella Boeddha:
It was really interesting to visit Binh Dinh when a festival was taking place. We visited the bonsai festival and liked the works displayed there very much. The stage at the square in front of Quy Nhon Trade Centre was always full of art performances.
It was a pity that there weren’t many hoardings and leaflets in English. There weren’t much information on Tay Son – Binh Dinh festival on the internet. Alongside these, guide books don’t mention the event.
We knew the festival by chance. Hoping that Binh Dinh would pay more attention to the advertisement for following festivals.
* Sarah Harvey and Eugenie Aitchison:
Tay Son – Binh Dinh Festival helped us know more about Binh Dinh’s culture. We were impressed by the making of traditional products. We visited many places in Vietnam, but this was the first time we’ve seen the making of these products. We were surprised with this.
The bonsai festival was also very interesting. We surprisingly knew that Binh Dinh’s women are good at martial arts. There was also a Miss Martial Lands pageant in the festival. All were attractive.
* Tran Minh Canh (Ho Chi Minh City):
I was born in Quy Nhon, but I’ve lived in Ho Chi Minh for nearly 15 years. Thanks to the mass media, I had known Tay Son – Binh Dinh Festival. My family and I, therefore, decided to come back my hometown and visited the festival.
I was really surprised with Quy Nhon’s changes. We didn’t miss any activities regardless of rain. I hoped that following festivals would be more impressive to attract more tourists.
