* When you were a child, it was said that you love dancing. But you are now a famous actress. Why did you decide to become an actress?
That’s right. After I had finished my exam at the school of dance, my father wrote to me saying that the school of cinema was recruiting actors and actresses. I registered and passed the exam. I’ve become an actress then. My father clearly knew which job is suitable to me.
* Many said that your first role in the film “Chi Tu Hau” (Ms Tu Hau) has been the most successful one. What do you think about this?
That’s a mistake. My first role was in the film entitled “An early day in autumn” directed by Huy Van. It was the start for my career as an actress. Thanks to the success of the role, I was invited to play a role in the film “Chi Tu Hau”. I couldn’t say whether it has been the most successful role or not.
* It has been a long time since you participated in the film “Dong song hoa trang” (the white flower on the river) by Tran Phuong, we haven’t seen your acting. Why?
Many directors invited me to play their films, but I refused after reading film scripts. I thought the role was not for me.
* You took a role in the film “Huyen thoai me” (the legend of a mother) made in Quy Nhon in 1987. Have you come to Quy Nhon frequently since then?
Owing to different reasons, I’ve just returned to Quy Nhon after 21 years. Truly speaking, I saw many changes when coming back. I was very happy.
* You used to live in Binh Dinh for a long time. Could you talk more about that time?
Binh Dinh has become my hometown. Many places like Emperor Citadel in An Nhon District have been engraved in my mind. When I was 7, my family moved from Phan Thien to Binh Dinh on a wooden barge and the first place we came was a sand bank in An Du, Hoai Nhon. The best time of my childhood was the period when I lived near the Emperor citadel. I always remember these places and that time.
* Your husband, meritorious artist Bich Ngoc, is also well-known. Could you talk something about your story?
We knew each other when he performed in the North. At that time, he was a dancer but loved music. Some musicians taught him when seeing that. Fortunately, he was then taught by a Soviet musician. He continued to study at the Tchaikovsky Conservatory and got excellent results. I admired him and loved him then.
* Your husband was born in Binh Dinh. Did he tell you anything about his hometown?
He always told me about his family and hometown. Among his brothers, there are some famous people such as writer Nguyen Thanh Long, diplomat Nguyen Thi Linh Quy. He also told me about specialties and cultural landscapes in Binh Dinh.
* You’ve participated in the jury of Miss Vietnam pageant for seven times. Why did you decide to join the jury of the Miss Martial Lands pageant?
I accepted the invitation when being invited to be a member of the jury because this was a very interesting contest held for the first time. Another reason was that I wanted to return to Quy Nhon after many years. I wanted to visit my old friends. That was a valuable chance because I don’t know if I can return to Quy Nhon.
