Two arts troupes coming from Laos and RoK performed in Tay Son – Binh Dinh Festival. The audience had a chance to enjoy their attractive performances during the festival.

Two art troupes performed at Binh Dinh Center of Culture and Information on August 2. They performed traditional shows with distinctive features. RoK’s Chongdong theatre joined the festival with four shows, including the performance of traditional musical instruments such as kaygum, haegum, ajeng, pirl, taegum, chango, and ching.

The combination of these musical instruments enhanced their effectiveness, making the performance become more attractive. Korean artists also warmed up the audience by playing kwaenggwari, jing, buk, and janggu.

The most interesting one was the show in which instrumentalists jumped and beat drums at the same time. Each held a musical instrument, wearing a hat with a strip of silk. They beat drums and danced in turns.

Laos national art troupe participated in the festival with 10 shows, including many traditional dances. They also performed a show themed “VietnamLaos: ardent love and great loyalty”, praising the friendship between Laos and Vietnam.

The most impressive performance was songs in Vietnamese sung by Laos’ singers. Although they didn’t know any Vietnamese, they sang songs in Vietnamese beautifully, particularly two songs about Binh Dinh. They said that they had to practice a lot so as to perform Vietnamese songs. They had these songs translated into Lao language to understand their meaning. They then practiced singing with a tape.

Two art troupes also performed in the opening ceremony, closing ceremony, and the night festival of flower garlands and colored lanterns. They had no time for other performances or meeting with the audience. However, the enthusiasm of the audience left a good impression on these artists. “Performing in Binh Dinh for the first time, we were greatly supported. This made us try our best to perform. We really wanted to show more. We hoped to return to Binh Dinh in the coming time,” said heads of two art troupes.
