Fishermen in Quy Nhon city’s Hai Minh found a cannon when they went fishing. It is now displayed at Binh Dinh Museum.

The cannon was made of cast alloy iron with two wheels on both sides. It has the length of 2.4 meters and weight of 500 kg. This is the longest cannon among others displayed at the museum.

There is no evidence on the cannon to prove its owner or age. According to historical documents, however, in the war between Nguyen dynasty’s army and Tay Son insurgent army on Thi Nai lagoon in 1801, Nguyen Anh used 91 warships with many cannons on them to attack Tay Son insurgent army. The cannon found on Thi Nai lagoon may be one of them.

This is the third cannon found on Thi Nai lagoon. It is a historical item that needs to be studied.
