Ngo Thanh Binh is a newcomer to photography, but he is the most promising recruit thanks to his all-out efforts and enthusiasm.
In 1992 when Binh was 16, he moved from Hue to Quy Nhon and worked in a darkroom. Gradually, he’s showed great enthusiasm for photography and become a photographer since 2000.
He spent much time travelling everywhere in the province, shooting many photos of picturesque scenes. Once, coming to Tuy Phuoc district, Binh saw a child climbing a tree and looking at something ahead and he then shot a photo of him and named it “Ngong cha” (Waiting for dad).
The photo was selected to join the national photo exhibition in 2003 and international photo festivals in Singapore and Hongkong. His name has become popular since then.
Despite his busy schedule, Binh has still arranged time to travel around the country to shoot photos. “I could take inspiration from ordinary scenes,” he said. “Once when I was shooting a photo of a fisherman on the Huong (Perfume) River, it rained, but I was still absorbed in take photos.”
“My camera was seriously wet when I finished, but I had a beautiful photo entitled ‘Vu dieu dan chai’ (Dance of fisherman),” Binh recalled.
Dance of fisherman was one of his four photos selected to be displayed at the southern central region and Central Highlands photo festival 2009. Also, Binh won a silver medal for his photo “Specialties from sea” and a consolation prize for “Dang Viet” (Vietnamese figure) at the festival.
In 2009, Binh’s five photos were chosen to be exhibited at the international photo contest (Photo – Culb de Limours) in France.
“Thanh Binh is a rising photographer in Binh Dinh,” said photographer Ngoc Loi, head of Binh Dinh Photography Branch. “He is now allowed to join Vietnam Photographers’ Association.”
The 33-year-old photographer is believed to go further with his enthusiasm.
