Two statues of King Quang Trung, located in front of the province’s Culture Center and Quang Trung Museum, are the most beautiful ones in the central province of Binh Dinh. Other statues across the province still need more decorations.

Most statues in Binh Dinh were hastily built long time ago, let alone inappropriate maintenance. This makes them become less attractive than expected. The statue of hero Ngo May positioned at the centre of Ngo May town is an example.
“The statue is put in a 700 s.q meter-park, but it has become smaller after the space was extended with a museum and a fish pond,” said Bui Hong Phong, head of Phu Cat district’s Culture – Information Center.
Also, many said its artistic value was not high, he added.
Another statue placed within the Deo Nhong – Duong Lieu Victory complex is also too small in the comparison with the area of 8.25 ha around it. It was built in 1985 and recognized as the relic of national magnitude in 1994, but it has been partly damaged.
It is leaning toward the north and there are many small cracks in the statue, according to head of Phu My district’s Culture – Information Center. The statue is adjacent to the road; thus, any ceremonies held there must take place on one side of the statue.
Other statues are now in bad condition or located in inappropriate positions, including the statue of Tran Hung Dao in Hai Minh and the statue of Victory in the Nhon Hanh commune’s park.
From an esthetic point of view, a statue must be in harmony with its surrounding space, said vice director of Binh Dinh Department of Construction, Dao Quy Tieu. Functional bodies need to contribute to the construction of a statue when the plan is proposed.
