The 10th Festival of Culture and Sports of ethnic minority groups in the central Binh Dinh province is scheduled to be held in Vinh An commune, Tay Son District from April 24-26. Vice director of Binh Dinh Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism cum head of the Organisation Board Nguyen An Pha talks about the preparation for the festival.
Could you reveal the main programs of the festival?
Nearly hundreds of athletes and artists from ethnic minority groups in Districts of An Lao, Van Canh, Vinh Thanh, Hoai An, Tay Son, and Phu Cat will attend the three-day festival.
There will be various festivities during the event, including beautiful village contest, art performances, mountainous beauty contest, story-telling on Ho Chi Minh’s exemplary morals, and other activities.
Participant will also join many games, such as crossbow shooting, volleyball, stick pushing, javelin-throwing, tug-of-war, and mini football.
What’s new in this year’s festival?
Phu Cat District’s athletes will join the festival for the first time. A photo exhibition on the culture of ethnic groups in Vietnam and Binh Dinh will also be held, responding to Day for Culture of the Vietnamese ethnic groups (April 19).
What’s more, for the first time, a story-telling on Ho Chi Minh’s exemplary morals contest will take place, aiming to continue launching the “Studying and following Ho Chi Minh’s exemplary morals” campaign.
Under new regulations, participants are not permitted to perform what they showed at previous years’ festivals. They are not allowed to use electronic musical instruments in art performances.
In the mountainous beauty contest, contestants will present the traditional culture of their ethnic minority groups in the Q&A section.
The mini-football competition will also take place, aiming to encourage ethnic minority people to play football in their localities.
How about the preparation?
The province’s Department of Culture, Sports, and Tourism and Tay Son District People’s Committee worked together to prepare for the event.
All have been ready for the festival so far. This will be the second time Vinh An commune of Tay Son District has hosted the festival of culture and sports of ethnic minority groups in Binh Dinh.
I do believe that Vinh An will be bustling with scores of people during the event.
