The film crew of the Australian TV channel SBS came to the central Binh Dinh province to continue their TV show entitled “Luke Nguyen’s Vietnam” about Vietnamese cuisine.

The first part of “Luke Nguyen’s Vietnam” includes 10 24-minute episodes, introducing foods from the Mekong River Delta to the central city of Hue.

Specialties in Binh Dinh will be introduced in the 8th episode, including banh hoi thit heo (fine rice vermicelli, steamed rolls made of rice-flour, with boiled pork), cha ca (fried fish), and other specialties.

This part will be broadcast on SBS channel in the fourth quarter of 2009. The film will also appears on other channels like Travel & Living, Discovery and some others.

The second part is expected to start by 2010, introducing Vietnamese cuisine from Hue to the northern region, aiming to give foreigners a panorama of Vietnam’s food and people.

Luk Nguyen and his elder sister opened the “Red Lantern” restaurant, which sold Vietnamese food, in the centre of Sydney. Luke also became the most successful Vietnamese-Australian businessman in Australia, winning the Restaurant and Catering Ethnic Business Award 2008.
