122th death anniversary of Mai Xuan Thuong marked

A ceremony was held at the tomb of the patriot Mai Xuan Thuong in Tay Son District on May 8, marking his 122th death anniversary.

At the ceremony, participants reviewed the history of Can Vuong anti-French movement in Binh Dinh and the patriotic spirit of Mai Xuan Thuong, leader of Can Vuong movement in the late 19th century.

The movement also took place widely in provinces of Quang Ngai, Phu Yen, Khanh Hoa, and Ninh Thuan.

Mai Xuan Thuong was beheaded at Go Cham (Binh Dinh town today) in 1887.

The tomb of Mai Xuan Thuong was listed as the national historic vestige in 1995. Also, his temple is expected to be built in the coming time.
