Could you briefly introduce the Singers’ Day Festival?
MC Thanh Bach, late director Huynh Phuc Dien, and some composers and television hosts put forward the idea of organizing the Singers’ Day Festival annually. The event is an excellent chance for singers, composers, MC and directors to gather and discuss how to improve the quality of community art events and raise funds for the poor.
We decided to organize the event in a couple of weeks before the Tet (lunar New Year) holiday with several programs, including a workshop and some games.
The event is expected to raise VND10 billion for charity from 2 major programmes: a Gala dinner to auction off articles provided by the singers and kindhearted people on January 19 and a New Year’s display of martial arts in the City’s Stadium the next day.
What are the new features in this year’s festival, compared with previous events?
The first festival was held in Da Nang in 2006, following in Nha Trang, and Binh Thuan. At the fourth one taking place in Quy Nhon participants will also receive no payment. All entrance fee and money raised from other programs will be used to donate to the “Fund for the Poor”, especially those who were badly affected by the powerful storms Ketsana and Mirinae last year.
In this year’s festival we will give more attention to the charitable work. Participants will visit the province’s Social Sponsoring Center on Jan.18, the Center for Beneficiaries and Hy Vong Specialized School on Jan.19, and Dong Tam Social Sponsoring Center and Quy Hoa National Leprosy-Dermatology Hospital on Jan.20.
Alongside these, a gala charity dinner where items donated by well-know singers will be auctioned for charity.
How about preparations for the festival?
I’m very happy when everything is going smoothly. Singers are expected to come to Quy Nhon today (Jan.18) and the rehearsal will take place on the next day. The main event held on Jan.20 is set to be live broadcast on some TV channels.
Besides, the Khat Vong Xuan (the Spring’s Hope) music show on January 18 will broadcast on Vietnam Television (VTV3 channel) on the first day of the Lunar New Year.
