Upholding value of relics
Many relic preservation projects have been carried out in the past two years, including the Phu Tai women’s prison, Vo Van Dung Temple, the tomb of Mai Xuan Thuong, and other cultural relics.
Also, the proposal for the expansion of area surrounding two Champa stone statues of elephants at the Hoang De (Emperor) Citadel was completed, let alone the project to recover the wall around the Citadel and upgrade the tomb of Vo Tanh.
The preservation of Cham towers has been given special concern. The Duong Long towers was proposed for the restoration after many new discoveries had been found here in some archaeological excavations.
The Canh Tien (Fairy Wings) tower located in An Nhon district is now under the second-phase restoration and it is expected to finish by late 2010; whilst, the Doi (twin) towers have been attracting many tourists since the Tay Son-Binh Dinh Festival 2008.
The restoration of Banh It tower is now under consideration while the overall planning for the upgrade of Thu Thien and Phu Loc towers is also being proposed.
Museums prove effective
The province’s museums have become attractive destinations in the past few years. The Quang Trung Museum located in Tay Son district, for example, is now one of destinations attracting many visitors, effectively helping the visitors know more about history.
Thanks to the expenses raised from the community, many items in the museum were built or upgraded, making the museum become more and more attractive.
The Binh Dinh Museum has also made every effort in displaying items, aiming to attract more visitors who want to thoroughly understand the province’s culture and history.
The provincial People’s Committee approved the proposal for the exhibition at the museum in September last year. It is, thus, expected to have some positive changes in the coming time, contributing to the province’s relic preservation.
