Why did the company decide to put forward a proposal for the second-round planning of Emperor citadel?
I have worked in Quy Nhon city for ten years and the land is now my second hometown in my heart. Whenever visiting the Emperor citadel, I’m really interested in its historical and cultural features which are now facing the risk of falling into ruin.
I believe that all people in Binh Dinh always hope that the citadel will be restored. I, thus, spent much time studying the relic and came up with the idea for the Emperor citadel planning.
The local authority approved my proposal and the company was assigned to carry out the plan in August.
As an architect, what do you think about the relic?
I’ve only tried to study the position of the relic. Thanks to the advancements in science, An Nhon district and its adjacent areas could be seen from satellite, in which the Emperor citadel is in a favourable position surrounded by mountains and rivers. It was scientifically built, bringing the natural power to the building.
How to plan the citadel, in your opinion?
Planning the citadel must meet such requirements as preservation and cultural tourism development. Also, the combination between the relic and newly-built works must be in harmony, creating an architectural complex that remains intact.
We will also plan to restore traditional features, such as the Nam Giao rituals, flower garlands and coloured lanterns festival, and the development of traditional craft villages.
What has the company prepared for the planning?
We’ve spent much time and money on preparing for the planning. A small seminar on the Emperor citadel and Cham towers in Binh Dinh was held on November 30. We’ve received many contributions to our project. The company has to make every effort in completing the proposal which will be submitted to the Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism for approval.
