1. At this year’s festival, five stages of the Tay Son Uprising are expected to be fully re-enacted. Distinguishing characteristics of each historical figure will be clearly performed through typical posture and dialogues.
The flower and incense-offering ceremony will be also different from previous years. Those who are assigned to join the ritual will wear tunics and ready-to-wear turbans. Also, nine big torches symbolizing three Tay Son brothers and six typical mandarins will be lighted around the venue where the ceremony will be held.
The main entrance of the museum and the walls will be decorated basing on the architecture of Thang Long’s ancient gate. Opposite to the entrance will a round-shaped big revolving stage.
“Activities taking place in front of the gate will re-enact the scene of Thang Long capital in the past,” said director Le Quy Duong. “After defeating the enemy, Emperor Quang Trung will enter the citadel on an elephant and people will warmly welcome him.”
Many folk games, such as lion dance, wrestling, and human chess will be held in the precincts of the museum, attracting the participation of the locals and tourists.
2. The artist Hoang Ngoc Dinh, director of Dao Tan Tuong (Vietnamese classical drama) Theatre, was assigned to act the role of Emperor Quang Trung. He had acted the role for the first time at the 210th anniversary of Ngoc Hoi – Dong Da Victory.
At this year’s festival, Dinh will act in five stages of the program. “The most difficult issue is to act in a way that clearly shows the great hero’s manner,” he said.
Dinh said he liked the second stage, which re-enacts the enthronement of Emperor Quang Trung, most because this obviously shows the manner of an outstanding leader.
“I always act the role of Emperor Quang Trung with great pride,” Dinh added. “Ive prepared for the role in the past few days.”
Alongside the role of Emperor Quang Trung acted by Dinh, the artist Hoang Chuong will act the role of Sun Shi Yi and the young actress will be in charge of the role of Princess Ngoc Han.
