A Nguyen Tieu poem night, which falls on the fifteenth day of the first lunar month, will be held tonight (Feb.28) in Quy Nhon city, celebrating the Vietnamese Poetry Day. Many activities have taken place today.

At 4 pm, the scholar Vu Ngoc Lien will “giving words” to those who are interested in calligraphy and the artist Binh Tuy will use calligraphy to write poems.
“I’m very happy when joining the Vietnamese Poetry Day,” Lien said. “I’ve again practised writing the Chinese characters for several days.”
Also, a meeting will be held for the cultural exchange among literature clubs, aimed at promoting the love for poetry in localities.
“We’ve tried to organize a cultural event in Quy Nhon to celebrate the Vietnamese Poetry Day,” Chairman of Xuan Dieu Literature Club, Quang Khanh, said. “The event was sponsored by some companies and benefactors.”
The Nguyen Tieu Poem Night is scheduled to open at 7.30 pm tonight. After the opening ceremony, hundreds of excellent lines of poetry are expected to be released to the sky.
The Uncle Ho’s “Nguyen Tieu” poem and Ly Thuong Kiet’s “Nam Quoc Son Ha” (mountains and rivers of the southern country) poem, which is considered the first “Vietnamese Declaration of Independence” will be recited at the poetry performance.
The program will be followed with many poems about spring, such as “Nu cuoi xuan” (spring’s smile) by Xuan Dieu, “Nho Ha Noi” (Missing Ha Noi) by Van Trong Hung, and “Ngay hoi Tay Son” (Tay Son festival) by Le Thu.
“The poem night is an event attracting many poetry lovers,” said Dao Minh Tam, head of the organisation board of Nguyen Tieu Poem Night. “We have, thus, prepared for the programs carefully.”
