Songs about Quy Nhon are often performed in festivals of all kinds.

Quy Nhon city has always been a source of inspiration for many songwriters. There have been many songs about Quy Nhon since it was liberated on March 31, 1975.

“Welcome peaceful Quy Nhon” is one of songs performed as soon as Quy Nhon was liberated. “I was present in Quy Nhon in the afternoon of the liberation day and I fully experienced the happiness during that day,” the songwriter Chau Duc Khanh, the author of the song, recalled. “I took the inspiration from the liberation day and composed the song.”

Tran Hung Dao ward’s artists were the first ones who sang the song, which was then sung in chorus by 200 singers and broadcast in the mass media in the city. When the anniversary of the Quy Nhon city’s liberation day is annually celebrated, the song is also sung again.

After the liberation day, there were also other songs about Quy Nhon. The song “Quy Nhon’s spring, Binh Dinh’s spring” by the songwriter Tan Huyen is one of the most favorite songs. It drew inspiration from the atmosphere of the liberation day and the soldiers’ happiness.

Other songs, such as “Quy Nhon – the poetic city” by Nguyen Thuy Kha, “Quy Nhon – the port city” and “The Phuong Mai peninsula” by Vu Trung, were composed later, praising the city’s land and people.

The songwriter Chung The Nghiep also composed some songs about Quy Nhon. “Quy Nhon is a poetic city with unique cultural features,” he said. “My works always involve the images of the national flag, Thi Nai Bridge, beautiful girls, and modern architectural works.”

To popularize songs about Quy Nhon, a festival in which contestants had to sing songs about Quy Nhon was organized last year, attracting 21 people aging from 16 to 35 years old. It is expected to encourage songwriters to compose more works, praising the city’s construction and development.

“We still need more songs that could leave a lasting impression,” said Khanh. “Such high quality songs require songwriters to be very creative and have much more inspiration.”
