Many Tuong Theatres and troupes nationwide are expected to join this year’s festival, including Vietnam Tuong Theatre, Dao Tan Tuong Theatre, Hue Royal traditional arts Theatre, and Thanh Hoa’s tuong troupe.

“Only artists who are under 40 are allowed to perform at this year’s festival, aiming to encourage young artists,” said deputy head of the Arts Performing Dept’s Arts Office, Chu Thom.

“But they also must be old enough to join the event because performing Tuong requires long-standing experience,” he added.

The Dao Tan Tuong Theatre’s artists will act out the “Dao Tam Xuan loan trao” play at the upcoming festival, according to the theatre’s director Hoang Ngoc Dinh.

It was an attractive play, which had been rewritten by veteran artists, helping us test the young artists for further training.
