Le Van Hoang, a former practitioner of Binh Dinh traditional martial arts squad, is now in charge of the club which was established in 2008. Its members won 5 of 8 medals for Phu Cat’s team at the Binh Dinh Sports and Physical Training Festival 2009. Also, its member Phan Thi My Duyen was named in the province’s traditional martial arts squad last year.
Initial success helped Hoang feel more confident about his teaching. Once coming to his club, we saw 30 members aged from 12 to 18 practicing martial arts techniques with great enthusiasm.
The club is comprised of a concreted 60-sq meter-court with a roof and a room in which many pictures, medals, and equipment are displayed.
The one-to-one competition is the advantage of the Le Kim Hoang martial arts club. “This kind of competition requires martial arts practitioners to involve three factors, including strength, a sharp mind, and bearing capacity,” said Hoang. “After the basic exercise, each member will be offered different exercises, depending on his ability and body.”
Most want to improve their strength and learn self-defence when enrolling in a course here. Some girls said they practiced martial arts for they are Binh Dinh’s girls. Some weak teenagers learned martial arts with the aim at improving their health. Despite his youth and the newly-established club, Hoang has reaped many encouraging achievements.
