“The song brings people closer together”
14:8', 19/7/ 2010 (GMT+7)

That is what Deputy Head of the Binh Dinh Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism’s Operations Management Unit, Bui Viet Thanh, who is also the scriptwriter of the third International Festival of Vietnam Traditional Martial Arts, talked about the theme song of the event.

Thanh said, “The main theme of my script is “Bridge for friendship”. I, thus, want to have a meaningful song calling people ‘Let’s come to us – Binh Dinh, Vietnam’. I had discussed with some provincial musicians and finally found that the musician Dao Minh Tam, Director of Binh Dinh Cultural Centre could be the most capable one.”

“He actually composed the song within one month. As the theme song of the festival, it should be singable and universal. I hope the song will be one of the bridges to bring people closer together,” he added.

Understanding the aim and meaning of the festival, the musician Dao Minh Tam composed the song Let’s come to us! Binh Dinh – Vietnam!, comprised of 3 parts of which the first part is about an enthusiastic welcome to friends all over the world to Binh Dinh province, the second one mentions ardent passion for the martial arts and the sporting spirit, and the last part praises the solidarity and friendship. The song’s rhythm is gentle while its lyrics are clear, rememberable, memorable and singable.

The finished song was translated into English by an English teacher of Le Quy Don Gifted High School, Nguyen Minh Ha, and musically arranged by Kim Van from the provincial Cultural Centre.

Two Vietnamese and English versions were then recorded. They were sung in various styles: solo, duet and chorus. The Vietnamese lyrics harmoniously alternate with the English words, highlighting the meaning of the friendship and solidarity of Vietnam traditional martial arts lovers.

The song has being popularized via the Internet. It is expected to be performed by the singers and members of all martial arts troupes joined the festival at the end of third episode in the opening ceremony. Besides, it will be turned on at all venues where activities of the festival will happen as an introduction to the public.
