Could you please let us know what the exhibition is for?
The photography in the southern central and Central Highlands regions has remarkably achieved spectacular breakthroughs in recent years with excellent works, domestically and internationally awarded. Yet, the artworks haven’t selected into a collection and introduced to the public because of various objective obstacles.
The Vietnam Association of Photographic Artists (VAPA) allowed its provincial affiliates to publish a bilingual Vietnamese–English CD-Rom of photo collection and organize the southern central and Central Highlands Photo Exhibition at different localities alternately, on the occasion of the 1,000th anniversary of Thang Long-Hanoi and the 30th Congress of International Federation of Photographic Art (FIAP) taking place in Vietnam from August 1-8.
Binh Dinh’s VAPA affiliate has permission to host the maiden exhibition in Quy Nhon City with the aim to share the works of art creation to the domestic and international viewers, celebrating the 3rd international festival of Vietnam Traditional Martial Arts.
Which the works are going to be displayed at the exhibition?
Many photographers showed full of enthusiasm for the exhibition. 615 photos by 63 regional VAPA members have been sent to join the exhibition in a short time. 333 of 655 works were selected to be compiled in the CD-Rom and 100 works were further filtered to be displayed at the exhibition.
The photos selected for the exhibition are artfully unique, presenting various humanitarian views about the country, lands and people. Many of them won high prizes at national and international contests.
Besides, the exhibition will introduce around 20 photos by members of VAPA’s affiliate in Binh Dinh about activities of the two previous international festivals of Vietnam Traditional Martial Arts. During the exhibition, the CD-Rom will also be distributed.
Does the exhibition this time have any difference in comparison with other photo exhibitions in Binh Dinh before?
In order to introduce the works to the public, an outdoor photo exhibition will be held for the first time at the garden near the Victory Statue square which has open spaces and beautiful scenery. We will set a photo on an easel besides each of the flower shrub.
Quy Nhon City Urban Plantation and Public Lighting Company agreed to support us with the light to make impressive visual effect for the works at night time. We hope that the idea will help to arouse more emotions from the viewers, ensuring the aim of the exhibition - “meeting and sharing”.
How is the preparation for the exhibition now?
We would like to thank Binh Dinh People’s Committee, Department of Culture, Sport and Tourism, the organizing board of the 2010 international festival of Vietnam Traditional Martial Arts for assisting us in organizing the exhibition.
We also received much help from the province’s Literature and Arts Association and other bodies.
Thus, all the preparation is basically finished. The exhibition is scheduled to open on July 29. We hope it will get support of the public.
