Festival highly significant

The 3rd international festival of Vietnam traditional martial arts is scheduled to begin in 10 days. Head of the organizing board, Van Trong Hung, said that the third festival will be different from two previous ones.

The local and foreign martial arts practitioners attend the first international festival of Vietnam traditional martial arts.

The most significant difference is that the 2010’s festival is part of activities celebrating the 1,000th anniversary of Thang Long-Ha Noi. The Government and Ministry of Culture, Sport, and Tourism, thus, showed full support for the event.

Still, the festival is mainly aimed at propagating the images of Binh Dinh’s land and people worldwide and offering an opportunity for martial arts instructors and practitioners to share their experiences with each other.

Alongside the martial arts performances, will there be more various programmes involved in the festival?

That’s right. Among must-have activities, such as march, martial arts performances flower and incense offering ceremony at the Quang Trung Museum, the 3rd festival will include other activities: an exhibition displaying weapons and martial arts customs of Vietnam, visits to the province’s tourism destinations and martial arts clubs, and a “martial arts beauty contest”.

The establishment of the international federation of Vietnam traditional martial arts was proposed in two previous festivals. Will it be included in the 2010’s event?

All martial arts masters and those who dedicate their life to Vietnam’s traditional martial arts hope this will come true so that it’s more advantageous for them to share their experiences on the traditional martial arts and enhance it to a new height.

The Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism also approved the proposal for the establishment of the international federation of Vietnam traditional martial arts.

A seminar will be, therefore, held during the 2010’s festival, aiming to talk about any issues related to the operation of the federation.

The preparations for the festival have been slower than what was planned. Does the problem affect the festival?

The preparations were quite late due to many reasons. However, all stages have still met the deadline so far thanks to the support of relevant bodies, authorities, and sponsors.

I do believe that the third international festival of Vietnam traditional martial arts will be very impressive, satisfying all foreign and domestic participants and visitors.
