The foreign ambassador of Vietnamese martial arts
14:12', 10/8/ 2010 (GMT+7)

Her home province of Binh Dinh, the cradle of martial arts in Vietnam, has shaped her life. Martial arts instructor, Ho Hoa Hue, inherited her family’s long tradition of martial arts through many generations. Hue has spent her entire life in the practice of the ancient art of defense, winning gold medals for four consecutive years from 1996 till 1999 in national contests. She earned international level 7 certification in 2006. However, her biggest success, for which many are grateful, has been bringing Vietnamese traditional martial arts to the world.

According to Vietnam News Agency, Hue started her passion when she was 2. Her father died when she was 3, leaving her with her grandpa, martial arts instructor Ho Van Cao who passed it on to her till she was 10. Then she continued to follow instructor Ho Van Lanh until she left for HCMC at the age of 14 and moved on with other instructors.

In 1985, she founded a sect of Vietnamese martial arts to teach thousands of young enthusiasts.

She wanted to promote the traditional arts to the world, so she worked hard to earn money for air tickets to France, England, the U.S., Russia, Belgium, Germany, Italia and Morocco to promote her sport. Wherever she went, overseas Vietnamese and foreigners warmly welcomed her.

Vietnam has many forms of martial arts. For me, Vietnamese traditional martial art is even more significant, as it developed for over 4,000 years of fighting enemies and protecting the nation. It embraces the soul of the nation and moral codes of human beings,” Hue said.

Currently, Ho Hoa Hue is deputy chairwoman of the Federation of Vietnamese Traditional Martial Arts and she attended the third International Festival of Vietnamese Traditional Martial Arts in Binh Dinh Province from August 1 to 4.
