Nguyen Hue who is also called Quang Trung is one of three brothers who were of the Ho clan (to which Ho Quy Ly had belonged), adopted the name Nguyen.

In 1771, they led the Tay Son Movement which ended the Le and Trinh dynasties later. Nguyen Hue then proclaimed himself Emperor Quang Trung and established a new capital at Phu Xuan (near modern Hue), a more central location from which to administer the country.

He passed away in 1792.

After two centuries, a temple dedicated to Emperor Quang Trung was built on the Dung Quyet Mountain, helping people nationwide commemorate him in special events.

This year’s commemoration ceremony included the worshipping rituals, incense offering ceremony, and art and martial arts performances.
