With an effort to maintain the Bang Chau bronze casting village, the Department of Trade and Industry of the central province of Binh Dinh established the Bang Chau Bronze-Casting Village Association in 2008 to restore and develop an over 200 year-old handicraft village.

Bang Chau bronze casting village located in Dap Da Town, An Nhon District, has been well known for the bronze casting 200 years ago.
In the Tay Son dynasty, the Bang Chau bronze casting village produced mainly household products such as trays, pans, and pots, and weapons.
Under the Gia Long dynasty, several skillful artisans of the village moved to work in Hue and created many valuable works including Buddhist statues and paintings.
The most prosperous period of the bronze casting village was between 1960 and 1975. After the country’s unification, the Bang Chau bronze casting nearly fell into oblivion.
After the establishment of the Bang Chau bronze casting village association, the bronze casting village has been restored with more than 100 private enterprises offering more than 1,000 jobs.
Chairman of the Bang Chau Bronze Casting Village Association Nguyen Dac Ngoc also invited artisans from Dong Sam silver casting village in the northern province of Thai Binh to instruct Bang Chau craftsmen how to cast bronze objects inlayed with three precious metals, the Dong Sam traditional casting skill called “Kham tam khi”.
Kham tam khi bronze products have high value for their elegant colors, permanent beauty and solemnness for worship. It takes a lot of time and effort to complete a product.
To develop and maintain the Bang Chau bronze casting village, the local people must love their traditional career and produce beautiful and high quality works, said Ngoc.
