The ancient tamarind tree in Quang Trung Museum

The ceremony to recognize Vietnam Heritage Tree for an ancient tamarind tree in a precinct of the Quang Trung Museum in Binh Dinh was held on November 28.

According to records of Vietnam Association for Conservation of Nature and Environment (VACNE), the 200-year-old tamarind tree in Quang Trung Museum is 24 meters high with trunk diameters of 1.2 meters, and 600 square meters leaf canopy.

This is the first ancient tamarind tree in Binh Dinh has been recognized as Vietnam Heritage Tree by VACNE. Apart from values of aesthetic and landscape, the tree also has an important historical meaning as a symbol of the strong development and existence of the Tay Son movement amongst the Vietnamese people.
