Visiting martial arts clubs is expected to be a part of tours in Binh Dinh

Binh Dinh sees abundant potential for tourism development, but it has sunk into oblivion as not being fully exploited. The province will attract more and more tourists if it makes the most of its unique cultural features.

Tourist products

The Department of Culture, Sports, and Tourism has asked provincial People’s Committee to upgrade Quang Trung Museum. At the meeting with functional bodies on April 7, provincial Party Chief Nguyen Van Thien steered relevant bodies to quickly carry out the upgrade of the museum as many businesses wanted to contribute to the construction.

This is one of steps preparing for boosting tourism in Binh Dinh in the 2011-2015 period.

When the museum is already upgraded in the future, it’s also necessary to better the organization of Dong Da festival. The museum will, thus, become an attractive destination for tourists.

The Hoang De (Emperor) rampart is another relic requiring restoration. It is expected to contribute to the development of local tourism sector.

The Cham tower system needs further consideration. It was proposed to be recognized by UNESCO as a world cultural heritage. Restoring Cham towers as well as popularizing their images will also be a part of activities boosting the local “non-smoke industry”.

Traditional martial arts is the most well-know intangible heritage in Binh Dinh. Some martial arts clubs were planned to be restored to become a part of tours designed by travel agencies. This will be an exclusive tourism services in Binh Dinh.

Cultural tourism in Quy Nhon

Quy Nhon plays a core role in strengthening the local tourism. The city will, hence, see many cultural tourism works. The Binh Dinh Museum was, for example, agreed to be extended or newly built.

The present location of the museum is very convenient despite its small and narrow area, according to the Department of Culture, Sports, and Tourism’s representative. It is necessary to build the museum in a new place or extend its space, making it become a cultural-historical destination of the city.

Those who visit Quy Nhon will also be able to enjoy local traditional arts, including Tuong (classical drama) and bai choi when new theatres are built in the future.

The city is the home of Doi (twin) towers which is able to be used to host different events.

At present, a night market is proposed to be built at the centre of the city, aiming to meet the tourists’ demands.

Some said the Ghenh Rang tourism site is an ideal place to build a night market where local specialties will be displayed. Also, tourists won’t ignore Ghenh Rang if a night market is built there.
