The house showed the concern of Binh Dinh’s authorities and people as well as the sponsor for the Tay Son partisans.
The Kim Son pagoda is a typical religious architecture in the 19th century and it was recognized as the relic of national magnitude in 1985.
The pagoda is also the last resting place for Tay Son soldiers who sacrificed during the Ngoc Hoi – Dong Da battle in 1789. A ritual is annually held at the pagoda on the fifth day of the first lunar month to commemorate them.
A memorial stele was built in the pagoda on the occasion of the 200th anniversary of Ngoc Hoi – Dong Da victory (1789-1989); however, the stele was dilapidated after it hasn’t been restored for 20 years.
Binh Dinh’s Department of Culture, Sports, and Tourism asked the provincial leaders to submit a proposal to the Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism for approval to the construction of a memorial stele house at the pagoda.
Inside the house is a stone stele which is 2.05 meter high, 1.5 meter wide, and 0.4 meter thick. It is inscribed with a funeral oration commemorating Tay Son partisans who sacrificed in the war against the Qing invader in the Spring 1789.
Binh Dinh’s leaders and some people born in Binh Dinh but living in Ha Noi joined the ground-breaking ceremony. Some yellow apricot blossom plants previously brought to the pagoda also bloomed when the house started to be built.
The memorial stele house dedicated to Tay Son insurgent army is expected to become one of destinations for the young generation to commemorate those who bravely sacrificed for the country’s independence.
