The summer is also the main season for local youth squads. The young athletes, thus, have to practise harder to well prepare for the most important tournaments this year.
Binh Dinh’s U-13 football squad will be the first one opening a busy season for the local sports. They will join the National U-13 football tournament scheduled to take place in Dak Lak from June 2-14.
If being qualified, the team will enter the final round held from June 26 – July 3. The U-13 squad will then attend the ASEAN U-13 football tournament – Yamaha Cup 2011 in Thailand from July 15-17.
Also, 9 local young athletes will participate in the National Youth Athletic Championship taking place in Nghe An from June 2-10.
The Binh Dinh traditional martial arts squad is expected to compete against other teams at the national youth traditional martial arts tournament in Can Tho from June 16-24.
For other students, they are able to register to practise their favourite sports, such as football, ping-pong, volleyball, badminton, swimming, and so forth at the province’s gifted school for sports since early June.
Alongside these, the city’s teenagers are able to practise other sports at Quy Nhon’s Children Palace.
Le Chi Kien, vice director of Quy Nhon Center for Culture, Information, and Sports, said the center will open free courses on singing and dancing for children, let alone a football tournament for children in the summer.
