There is an “unwritten” rule at Vietnam swimming squad, that is, faith in young swimmers. As for swimming, those who are bit over 20 are hard to continue their career at the team because of typical features of swimming and other reasons.
The retirement of some key athletes will, more or less, affect the national swimming squad’s achievements in the coming time; however, young swimmers will be offered more chances to show their talent.
Such names as Quy Phuoc, Thanh Nguyen, Nhat Nam, Anh Vien, My Thao, Kim Tuyen, Tam Nguyen, and Duong Thi Thom are expected to be new “stars” for the future squad.
“Vietnam swimming squad may have no medal at the upcoming SEA Games as the team now includes inexperienced athletes only and we have to admit this, but they are also expected to make a surprise,” said Vietnam swimming squad’s coach Dang Anh Tuan.
Binh Dinh’s young swimmers have always reaped many achievements when joining tournaments of national magnitude in recent years; however, many of them often have to return home after being asked to practise at the national squad.
Therefore, when many “senior” athletes retired from the squad, Binh Dinh’s swimmers will have more opportunities.
Binh Dinh now has many young swimmers but only one or two of them have potential, according to the coach of Binh Dinh swimming team.
Alongside given opportunities, Binh Dinh’s swimmers still need some more factors to develop, including better infrastructure, more competitions, excellent coaches.
