Supporting talent in painting
13:37', 4/8/ 2011 (GMT+7)

The 1st-prize-winning painting by Nguyen Thi Men, a student of Tang Bat Ho high school.

Graduating in fine arts from Binh Dinh Culture and Art secondary school in 1986, Dang Van Nga worked at Hoai An district’s cultural center and then became a fine arts teacher at An Tuong primary school and Tang Bat Ho junior high school later.

He continued studying at Hue Pedagogical University of Fine Arts in 2004 to improve his knowledge. Teaching at Tang Bat Ho high school, Nga has always paid much attention to nurture students who show talent in painting.

In 2007, his students won 1 third prize and 2 consolation prizes when entering the painting contest themed “Water and life in kid’s eyes in central region”.

His students also brought 1 first prize for team category and 5 prizes to the school after joining another contest held in the same year.

The school’s students many prizes at the drawing contest entitled “Climate change” held by Oxfam and Ministry of Education and Training in 2009.

Recently, under Nga’s instruction, his students won 7 of 11 prizes in the contest taking place in Quy Nhon last month.

Nga greatly contributed to the school’s impressive achievements in the field of fine arts. “Many students often ignore fine arts as it is just an extra subject,” Nga said. “I thus have to spend much time encouraging them to seek themes for their paintings from the real life.”

“Each award-winning student is required to draw similar painting which won the prize and I use them as visual aid for my lessons, helping other students practise drawing,” he added.
