Positive changes
Results of this year’s photo contest are the most “shocking” in years. A journalist from Thanh Nien Newspaper, Dinh Phu, who won second prize of last year’s photo contest, gets first prize this year.
Strong development of photography at grassroots levels helps photographers from districts improve their skills and win most of the prizes. Long Vu (from Vinh Thanh district radio station) win second prize although he sends only 1 photo to the contest. Vo Chi Ha (from Hoai An district Centre of Culture, Communication and Sport), who won third prize last year gets a third prize and a consolation prize. Young photographer Tung De (from Hoai Nhon district), who won a second prize and a consolation prize last year, and a bronze prize at 2010 Art Photo Contest at South Central Coast Region and Central Highlands, win a third prizes and 2 consolation prizes this year. New comer Ho Viet Quoc (from Hoai An district Centre of Culture, Communication and Sport) reaps his first achievements – a second prize and a consolation prize.
Other new comers are Thanh Vuong (from public security force at Nhon Ly commune, Quy Nhon city), Nguyen Thi Quyen (Phu Cat district Centre of Culture – Sport), Dang Thanh Phuong (from Quy Nhon University). They all show their passion and creativeness.
Tourism advertising through photos
Tourism theme of this year’s contest inspires 26 photographers to create 265 photos about Binh Dinh landscape and people.
The photo “Binh Dinh traditional martial arts” (first prize) by Dinh Phu is highly appraised by examiners because of its closely-knit and strong lay-out, good lighting in the set up, good manifestation of a young martial arts practitioner’s look. The photo expresses continuous tradition of martial arts, one of the most notable potentialities of Binh Dinh tourism. The photo “Festival at Cham Twin towers” (second prize) by Pham Van Chai reveals high skills of the experienced photographer in exploring a familiar subject. Thanks to this, the photo has its own attraction with sparkling Cham towers under fanciful moonlight. The photo “Nuoc Luong waterfall” (second prize) by Ho Quoc Viet seemingly invites tourists to the natural beauty spot at Dak Mang commune, Hoai An district, which is still unpopular to tourists.
The photo “Concert performance” by Long Vu and “Bana ethnic minority girl” by Vo Chi Ha (all win third prizes) show beauty of ethnic minority culture and lifestyles. The photo “Golden crops” (third prizes) by Tung De leave strong impression with good lay-out, beautiful lighting and good description of a peaceful village.
Beautiful landscape of Binh Dinh also appears in other photos which are awarded consolation prizes, including: “Practicing calligraphy in spring” by Pham Van Chai, “Impressive Lo Dieu Pass” and “Night market of Go Gang conical hat” by Vo Chi Ha, “Temple of Goddess worship” by Ho Viet Quoc, “Sedge crop” and “Coastal festival” by Tung De.
