Young martial arts practitioners are performing at Phan Tho martial arts club. |
Binh Dinh Provincial Party Chief Nguyen Van Thien made a tour of some traditional martial arts clubs in Binh Dinh on Sept. 26. His concern is a positive sign for the development of Binh Dinh traditional martial arts
Visiting Phan Tho martial arts club in Tay Son district, provincial Party Chief Thien had an informal talk with its head, martial arts master Phan Tho, who is now 86. Tho said, he was financially supported to build his own club in 2010. During the talk, Thien also asked functional bodies to propose a plan, aiming to expand the club in the future. The local authorities will assist the relevant bodies in collecting and editing any documents related to the famous martial art clubs to attract more tourists.
He then visited Phi Long Vinh club and another club located at Long Phuoc pagoda. He praised their achievements and acknowledged their difficulties to ask other bodies to resolve them in the coming time.
During the tour, provincial Party Chief Thien said, it’s necessary to recover the operation of martial arts clubs in the combination with tourism. The revenue from tourism services will be used to feed the clubs.
He concluded that the functional bodies need to urgently proposal a plan on preserving and developing Binh Dinh traditional martial arts, making martial arts become special tourism product. Also, there will be preferential policies for these clubs.
According to director of Binh Dinh Department of Culture, Sports, and Tourism Van Trong Hung, the proposal will be carried out carefully, basing on works implemented previously. Tour operators will have chances to visit the martial arts clubs and give feedback about their potential.
However, the “commercial” purpose shouldn’t be the main goal of the proposal. The target of honoring Binh Dinh martial arts is more important.
