Binh Dinh sees many revolutionary historical vestiges of provincial and national magnitude. Their value will hardly be disseminated if there is no interaction via educational activities.
More than 60 Youth Union members representing provincial agencies and bodies on March 24 visited some historical vestiges in Tay Son district, including the tomb of Mai Xuan Thuong, district’s Binh Khe yamen, commemoration house for Road No.19 Victory.
The participants were really moved when visiting these places. They all showed the great respect for fallen soldiers and their glorious victories during the revolutionary war.
“We have more knowledge of Vietnamese history and know more about the past generation’s patriotic tradition,” said Nguyen Thi Bich Ly, a youth union official. “We must improve ourselves to contribute to the country’s development.”
However, not all historical vestiges have remained intact. The tomb of Mai Xuan Thuong, for example, was built 50 years ago; thus, many parts of the tomb were almost destroyed while it is ranked as the vestige of national magnitude.
The tomb upgrade, therefore, is necessary.
Binh Khe yamen also needs restoration. It is one of venue mentioned in many studies as the vestige is destination for those who want to know more about Ho Chi Minh’s exemplary morals.
At present, Binh Dinh has 12 ranked historical vestiges built during the war of resistance against the French colonialists. Among them, 1 is of national magnitude and 4 are of provincial magnitude. Besides, there are 20 vestiges under the anti-US revolutionary war. However, many of them haven’t been restored or upgraded for historical education.
Under the preservation scheme for the 2011-2020 period, most revolutionary historical vestiges will be funded for restoration.
