city of Binh Dinh Province from August 1-4.

“The event is aimed at honoring and preserving the nation’s cultural value as well as popularizing the images of Binh Dinh’s land and people worldwide,” said director of the province’s center for tourism promotion, Huynh Cao Nhat.

Domestic teams of 20 provinces and cities and delegations coming from 30 countries and territories are expected to join the festival, showing distinctive features of Vietnamese traditional martial arts.

The event is also comprised of other programs, such as bai choi competition, photo exhibition, and Martial Arts paegant, boat racing, and Tuong festival, added Nhat.

The local authorities disseminated Binh Dinh’s advantages and tourism services in Ha Noi in late March.

Nguyen Thanh Son, deputy director of the province's Culture, Sports and Tourism Department, said the province also planned to “upgrade” signature cultural events like Dong Da Victory, Go Market festival, and martial arts festival to promote tourism.

Binh Dinh hasn’t become an attractive destination for visitors, but it welcomed nearly 1.2 million tourists last year. An estimated number of 420.000 tourists flocked to Binh Dinh in the first quarter of 2012.
