Art, weaponry exhibition expected to leave impression
13:38', 26/7/ 2012 (GMT+7)

Portrait of Master Phan Tho will be displayed at the exhibition.

As part of activities within the framework of the 4th international festival of Vietnamese traditional martial arts, the exhibition on photos and traditional weaponry opened on August 1 is expected to be a highlight.

The province’s relevant bodies have actively prepared for the exhibition for the past month. Local photographers have taken many photos at martial arts clubs.

Photographers Pham Van Chai, Dao Tien Dat, for example, were assigned to take photos at Ho Sung and Phan Tho martial arts clubs while Ngoc Loi and Hoang Van went to Phi Long Vinh club and Long Phuoc Pagoda-based club.

“Taking photos at local well-known martial arts clubs, I clearly felt the quintessence of traditional martial arts through the performances showed by grand masters and martial arts practitioners,” said photographer Dang Huy.

The exhibition will feature more than 100 photos, classified into three categories: martial arts festivals, operation of 6 key martial arts clubs during this year’s event, and portraits of 18 martial arts masters using 18 types of traditional weapons, according to Nguyen An Pha, chairman of Binh Dinh Literature and Art Association.

The exhibition will also see the display of 18 types of traditional weapons, which will be placed next to the portraits of masters who used them in different martial arts techniques.

In addition, 5 samples of martial arts uniform will be showcased in this event.

The exhibition is going to take place at the Quang Trung square roundabout. At the back of the statue of Quang Trung Emperor will see the display of weaponry and portraits of martial arts masters at two sides and martial arts uniform in the centre. The photos of martial arts techniques will be positioned beside flower pots around the statue and there will be a light system highlighting the photos at night.

The Quang Trung Museum’s martial arts musicians will perform at the opening ceremony.
