Master Ho Hoa Hue

That’s what martial arts Master Ho Hoa Hue has done in the past years. She is now serving on the Executive Board of the Vietnamese Martial Arts Federation and coaches at the Tinh Vo Dao Academy.

Her Academy is located on Lam Van Ben Street within District 7 in Ho Chi Minh City. Her father passed away when she was two and her father took her to Tay Son district and taught her martial arts.

When she was ten, she moved with her family to the Central Highlands where, as her family worked, her interest in martial arts was fostered by a local martial arts master.  She subsequently moved to her mother’s original home area in Tien Giang Province, and then she moved on to Saigon where she had the opportunity to meet truly outstanding martial arts masters.  It was in Saigon that she was able to hone her skills from the masters she met there.

At the age of 41, Master Ho Hoa Hue established her martial arts club named Tinh Vo Dao, which means “purity in martial arts.” Her club has attracted many disciples thanks to her own experiences when teaching martial arts in 15 European and African countries.

Annually, many foreign people come to her club to practise martial arts in the summer holidays. “In their mind, Vietnamese traditional martial arts often contain something secret and they want to discover secrets of Vietnamese martial arts,” Hue said.

She often tells her disciples that practising martial arts is not simple for it requires the patience and concentration. The creativeness is very important because it helps martial arts practitioners develop the essence of martial arts.

A martial arts practitioner mustn’t be arrogant and know when to use martial arts to help other people, she added.

Master Ho Hoa Hue is also well known for charity work. She’s spent much time helping flood victims and unfortunate people nationwide. When teaching martial arts abroad, she also donated her money to charity.

“I do charity work because I had a hard childhood,” Hue said. “When doing charity work, I feel easy in my mind.” She and Master Thu Van voluntarily taught martial arts to disabled children at Nguyen Dinh Chieu School, Hi Vong School, and Que Huong Humanitarian Center, helping them feel happy.
