My An’s beaches are locally divided into back and front beaches. The former is used for anchovy manufacturing and white-leg shrimp breeding while the latter is the place for fishing vessels to anchor and it is also the market.

The manufacturing of dried anchovies is located on the long beach in Xuan Binh village, curbing the environmental pollution for rural areas.

There are two anchovy seasons in a year, falling on March-April and June-July. Dried anchovies cost 50,000-60,000 VND per kilogram at the manufacturing venue, but the price will be 100,000-120,000 VND per kilogram when sold at market. The anchovy manufacturing has brought high income to local people.

My An is also famous for white-leg shrimp breeding. The village see nearly 100 households specializing in white-leg shrimp breeding, particularly in hamlets of Xuan Binh and Xuan Thanh Nam.

Unlike previous days when My An fishermen only had small boats, they now have big fishing vessels which encourage them to go fishing offshore.

My An village was listed in the development program for the 2006-2010 period. The village is believed to be more and more prosperous.
