In the land of the Tay Son in Binh Dinh province, even before Nguyen Hue and his brothers led a peasant rebellion against the Nguyen Lords in the late 18th century, martial arts were a long cherished spiritual discipline handed down through the generations.

At harvest time,  revolutionary mowing machines named Kim Chinh busily operate in all fields in Binh Dinh and neighboring provinces. Not many know the machine which could be used for both dry and wet rice fields was invented by a farmer.

The locals in central province of Binh Dinh have become kind hosts in the past few days, helping many candidates coming to the province to take the entrance exams.

Many young members at Nguyen Nga vocational training center for disabled people are good at not only making handicrafts but composing poems and stories.

I met Nguyen Lan Hung in Quy Nhon on the hottest day in April. “I’ve just visited and given farmers in Cat Hai commune some advice,” he said.
