Q: After nearly one week staying Ha Noi to prepare for the contest and become the champion with different feelings, what do you have to share with people, both happiness and sadness?
A: I had many unforgettable experiences when staying Ha Noi. I was really happy when making friend with three other finalists. Each left me with different impressions. I will never forget the moment when all of us held hands together to sing the song “The road to glory”. I was happy because I had talked with many people and took many photos. I loved my father for his care each night.
About sadness? I regretted not enjoying Ha Noi’s dishes.
Q: In the contest, I liked the “Overcoming obstables” part most. With only four words horizontally, you solved the quiz. Once more time, you have proved that you are really intelligent and have a logical judgement.
A: When anwering the quiz, I was very happy. Tan, another finalist, also guessed the answer, but I was a little bit luckier and quicker than him.
Q: Before going to Ha Noi, Permanent Deputy Secretary of Provincial Committee of the Party Pham Van Thanh had visited your house and said that you were the representative for Binh Dinh’s people. Your success would be our pride. Do you think that this was a responsibility?
A: Actually, I was very surprised when he visited my house. This was also the first time I honorly met him. He showed me much affection and talked with me as if I were his son. I was moved and happy because our generation is really lucky when having a great concern from the whole society.
Initially, I quite worried, but I was motivated by his encouragement and the determination.
Q: During twelve years at high school, you are always “number one”. At this year’s contest, you were usually positioned secondly. What do you think about the coincidence?
A: I’m proud of my height and weight in the class. In the final contest, I was also the “heaviest” one. I love number two for it symbolizes the whole like our eyes, a couple, or two banks of a river. Being a second participant helped me well prepare for my quiz and have more time for another part in the contest.
Q: Many newspapers have talked about you on these days. It is said that you are of versatile talent and compassionate. Can you tell more about your thought?
A: Doing a charitable donation is what I was taught when I was a child. My parents and grandparents always said, “Try to live better and, more importantly, have a good heart.” I’m too young to understand all significances of the life, so I only do as much charitable donation as possible.
Q: You said that your family was the greatest motivation for you to strive to study well. As I know, your father always looked after you, helping you a lot when you participating in the contest. Can you talk about your family?
A: That’s true. My family is a special factor making me successful. My family is also a motivation for me to try to study well. AT home, all members take care of me. My father also helps me absorb the knowledge when I was a child. Before the final, my father and I often hold “face-to-face” knowledge contest and I always lost when answering questions about maths and sports.
Q: Your headmaster had said, “Vu proved that if you have a dream and a determination, you will be able to succeed in any knowledge contest despite wherever you live, poor or rich.” What do you think about this?
A: My teachers and friends also play an important role in my success. In the final contest, when being in difficult situation, I always thought of my school where there were my relatives, my teachers and classmates watching me.
I also want to thank those who participate in the Olympia forum. I haven’t never met any one, but they helped me a lot. I’ll never forget.
Q: How will you prepare for the future?
A: Initially, I have to prepare for the high school graduation exam. Then, I will prepare for the IELTS exam to be able to study at Swinburne Technology University (Australia). I know that there will be many difficulties and challenges. I, therefore, have to learn many things.
Q: What can you talk about your dream?
A: My dream is to study chemistry and carry out chemistry experiments. I also want to be a teacher like my father.
