“Love” Albulm sung by Quang Dung

“Love” album with 10 love songs composed by Dieu Huong and late famous composer Trinh Cong Son and sang by Quang Dung’s beautiful voice actually win heart of sentimental music lovers. They probably buy the album without listening on trial.

The editor seems to arrange the love songs of the two musicians alternately on purpose. This helps the listeners not only experience two different status of emotion but also enjoy another strange nuance of music - nuance of Quang Dung through intentional  mix of the two different music colours.

Once again, the male singer from Quy Nhon City (Binh Dinh Province) sings love songs of his favourite songs with his natural but elegant voice. Therefore, the album sounds like a confidence which is much more valuable than the advertiments for the album such as “These Trinh Cong Son’s love songs and Dieu Huong’s have been recored or introduced for the first time in Viet Nam”.

The Trinh’s love songs such as  Tuoi da buon, Tinh nho, Cho doi chut on have same colour of vague melancholy, reminding the listeners of unclear nostalgia. Quang Dung feels the same nostalgia but he sings the songs with his full peacefulness. The blue vague memories seemingly revive with all of its sweetness. While many contemporary singers try to “refresh” Trinh Cong Son’s love songs with various new styles Quang Dung still keeps his own peaceful style of singing with clear and perfect pronunciation.

No creation. No so- called discovery of the profoundity of Trinh Cong Son’s words. No problem. Fans of Quang Dung probably don’t need such things. If Trinh music were “a soup for soul”, it should be sung with “daily essential meals” style of Quang Dung.  So simple. So peaceful. So smooth. That’s enough. It is a magic that “Uot mi” is still beautiful through Quang Dung’s voice after half-of-a-century existence through voice of once famous Thanh Thuy singer. (Click here to listen Uot mi).

In the “Love” Album, “Chi co toi trong doi” by Trinh Cong Son has been sung for the first time by a simple but excillent voice. “Life gives me sorrows, and then happiness. Life exists peacefully inside me”. Trinh Cong Son’s long path of life full of the blues and joys bears some resemblance to Quang Dung’s. Probably because of his sympathy towards Trinh Cong Son, Quang Dung sings the songs more sweetly. (Click here to listen to Chi co ta trong doi).

In his very first album “Bien nghin thu o lai”, many Dieu Huong’s love songs were sung enthusiastically by Quang Dung as if he had felt in love for the first time. But this time, even “Vi do la em” , he sings with his moderate consciouness. Neither fervently nor flatly. So, the harmony of “Vi do la em” is not as fine as it was couples of years ago. However, Dieu Huong’s new songs such as “Chi co mot thoi”, “Doi khong con nhau“Van con yeu”, “O lai ta di” all bear love-sick sorrows.

A little of nostalgia. A little of sadness. A little of ardency. It is obvious that Quang Dung’s career is “ripe”. “Those were the days to love. Those were the days to sulk. Falling in love. Each step with long-lasting happiness. Oh! past time... (Click here to listen to “Chi co mot thoi”)
