The National Steering Committee for Bird Flu Control has urged the People’s Committees of cities and provinces throughout the country to take urgent measures to control the spreading of bird flu and contain the disease.
The committee required localities to investigate fowl farming and bird raising families as well as increase supervision of transportation of poultry and poultry products. Sterilisation must be carried out in high-risk areas.
Bird flu prevention measures should be disseminated to poultry farmers, urging them to apply safe breeding technology as well as to stop incubation of water fowl.
Viet Nam has detected bird flu in the southern provinces of Ca Mau and Bac Lieu after seeing no outbreaks for one year , said Vice Head of the Department of Veterinary under the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (MARD) Hoang Van Nam on Dec. 19.
