Kim Dinh International Group Joint Stock Company will be the first Vietnamese enterprise to invest in a $60 million manufacturing complex in the Republic of Dominica.
The complex will include facilities for automobile assembly, production of solar powered batteries, footwear and clothing, plus building materials.
The plan was disclosed by Kim Dinh Company Management Board Chairman Le Trong Dinh at a press briefing in Santo Domingo on Apr. 13.
Dominican press quoted Dominican Ambassador to Viet Nam, Hanns Dannenberg Castellanos as saying that the investment plan is the result of talks between Dominican President Leonel Fernandez and Vietnamese President Nguyen Minh Triet on the sidelines of the Non-Aligned Movement Summit in Cuba last year.
In 2006, the company signed a letter of intent with a Venezuelan company to establish a joint venture to produce lighting equipment and solar powered batteries in Venezuela.
