Work began on the 4,500 billion VND Dak Mi 4 hydropower project in Phuoc Son district, central Quang Nam province, on April 21.

Permanent Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Sinh Hung attended the groundbreaking ceremony of the 190-MW Dak My 4 plant, which is part of an electricity infrastructure development plan for the Vu Gia and Thu Bon rivers, that was recently approved by the Prime Minister.

The new plant is expected to generate 1 billion kWh annually by the time it comes on line in June 2011.

At the ceremony, Deputy PM Hung urged local authorities and construction units to keep on track of the construction schedule while ensuring environmental protection and sustainability for the local people.
