PM orders quicker tempo of investment projects
10:19', 11/6/ 2007 (GMT+7)

Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung has urged ministries and central agencies to remove all difficulties to speed up the tempo of projects, particularly key ones, in an effort to fulfill this year’s investment targets.

At a conference on investment in Ha Noi on June 10, PM Dung asked relevant agencies to focus on the management work and revision of decrees and circulars guiding the implementation of investment projects.

Regarding capital construction, the PM required ministries and agencies to focus attention on all stages from the outlining of projects and assessment to putting out to tender, noting that the Ministry of Planning and Investment has to work out concrete mechanisms for capital sources and investors of key projects.

PM Dung praised ministries, agencies and localities for their efforts to contribute to the country’s targeted GDP growth rate of 8 percent and record volume in social investment in the first half of the year.

The government leader, however, pointed out the tardy disbursement as the main reason behind the low progress of a number of projects.

Reports presented by the Ministry of Planning and Investment at the meeting showed that total social development investment so far this year reached 195 trillion VND (roughly 12.19 billion USD), representing 43.2 percent of the annual target and 38.4 percent of the country’s GDP.
