Ministries and sectors urged to achieve a GDP growth rate of 8.5 percent

The Government held a monthly meeting in Hanoi on July 2 under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung.

Addressing the meeting, PM Dung asked relevant ministries and sectors to do their best to successfully fulfil set targets for 2007, including achieving a GDP growth rate of 8.5 percent and accelerating public administrative reform and the fight against corruption and wastefulness.

At the two-day meeting, the Government will discuss a report on the Government’s performance in the first half of this year and its working agenda in the second half, a report on the implementation of socio-economic development tasks, State budget estimates, and solutions for fulfilling tasks till the end of the year.

The meeting will also hear the Minister of Trade report on the development of the domestic market and import-export activities, the Minister of Home Affairs report on the implementation of public administrative reform, and the Government Chief Inspector report on anti-corruption activities.

In addition, Government members will give opinions on a number of draft laws relating to the implementation of the Youth Law and the policy to sell State-owned houses.
